Last chance to clear your arrears: Anna University

CHENNAI: Anna University has decided to give one last chance to students who have exhausted the maximum chances to clear their arrears, to complete the course, university Vice-Chancellor MK Surappa has said.

The university has decided to conduct a special examination in November or December for these students with arrears to help them clear their arrears and get the degree.
Along with students of undergraduate courses, post-graduate students will also be eligible for the benefit.

“We are giving one last opportunity to the students, who did not manage to complete the course due to backlog of arrears, by conducting special exam for them. The students should study well, clear their arrears and get their degrees as it is their last chance to complete the course,” he said.

Varsity sources said over 30,000 students with arrears will be benefitted by this decision. Officials added that detailed information about the examination will be provided in the university’s website at the right time.

The important decision was taken at the syndicate meeting of Anna University on Thursday.  As per regulations, students should complete their course within seven years. They are eligible to get degrees only if they clear all the arrear subjects within seven years, (the four year course period and additional three years after completion of the course).
However, students who are not able to complete the course within seven years have been pleading the varsity authorities to show leniency towards them.

Adding to it, the syndicate on Thursday also approved the new rule which allows students to write arrears immediately in the following semester exams.

As per current regulations in place, a student who has failed in an exam during an odd or even semester can appear for the arrear exam only in the next odd or even semester. As per 2017 regulations, students who fail in theory course can reappear only along with regular students when that course is offered next time.
It was also decided to hold a supplementary exam for eighth-semester students who have arrears in one subject.

620cc Hero Hastur Streetfighter India Launch Plans Shelved

2:40:00 pm

A report from the brand confirms that the 620cc Hero Hastur will never see the daylight. The Indian brand is known for the most successful commuters of all time in the country and their venture into the 150cc-400cc space will definitely leave others sweating.

However, the scrapping of HX250R and now, the Hastur concept means that they don’t want to take any chance by bringing the 5-year old design lines into existence. The first step to prove their statement was the launch of Xtreme 200S and the xPulse 200 in India, further raising eyebrows with their 400cc upper limit to facilitate the celebrated XF3R concept.
However, the almost non-existent Achiever 150 and Xtreme Sports also mean that they could focus first on the volume-generating segment and then move swiftly into the premium bracket with their one-of-its-kind pricing. The 620cc Hero Hastur was designed in collaboration with EBR and believe it or not, Hero seems to scrap everything they had made during that era.
The current-gen Karizma is the last product standing from a failed partnership and sales figure posted by the same in the last few months of existence clears that it won’t last long. The cost-cutting measures taken by sharing components in the 200cc category may help them add more practicality to the upcoming bikes.
Hero Hastur had a radical streetfighter design with a split headlamp, dual front discs, underbelly exhaust and exposed frame with a yellow finish on the concept. It felt like the prototype was not working at all, with Hero MotoCorp still claiming 80 HP and 72 Nm of output from the twin-cylinder 620cc engine.

The 15-litre fuel tank, 240 kmph of top speed, and an astonishing 160 kg of wet weight will now remain spec sheet content for the rest of its life. Once finished with scrapping all the outdated concepts, Hero MotoCorp is next expected to work on their 300cc segment product alongside the basic commuters.

Google Thanos Easter Egg Wipes Out Half of All Search Engine Results

8:13:00 pm

Worried about seeing “Avengers: Endgame” spoilers on Google?
You could always wipe out half of the search results.

A new (and awesome) Google easter egg is turning the search results to dust.
Here’s how to see it for yourself:
Head to Google. (The easter egg works on both desktop and mobile search results.)
Type in: thanos.

Video Tutorial : https://youtu.be/4__PT_a5iCE

You’ll see something like the following:

See the Infinity Gauntlet (the gold glove with all six of Infinity Stones) in Google’s Knowledge panel? Click on it.
You’ll see the glove snap its fingers.
Then you’ll start seeing the search engine results start to vanish – just as many of your favorite Marvel characters at the end of “Avengers: Infinity Wars.”

The search results will even scroll by themselves, forcing you to watch them as they’re eradicated.
Ultimately you’ll be left with something like this as your search results page:

Indeed, Google’s 96 million results seem to have been reduced to 48 million!
Want to bring all the search results back?
Click on the Infinity Gauntlet again.

All the results will returned.
Here’s a video of the easter egg in action, via YouTube.

Back to square 1: Anna University to conduct Tancet

10:57:00 am

CHENNAI: Days after announcement of separate entrance tests for PG courses, Anna University has withdrawn the notification. It had announced to conduct entrance tests for postgraduate courses offered in university departments and its constituent colleges.

The decision was taken after the higher education department issued a fresh order on April 29 changing the co-ordination committee for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (Tancet). As per the new order, the director of technical education will just be a member instead of a co-chairman and Anna University Vice-Chancellor will be the chairman for the committee.

"The higher education department has withdrawn the changes it had made to the coordination committee. Hence, we decided to conduct the TANCET 2019 and it would be the single exam for all PG engineering courses offered in Tamil Nadu," university officials told TOI.
The first coordination meeting of the committee is to be held on Thursday. The university on Sunday announced that students have to write a separate entrance test for getting admission to the ME, M Tech, M Arch and M Plan, MBA and MCA courses.
Welcoming the decision, professors from Anna University said the government should have given the task of conducting online engineering counselling to the university as well.

Due to the difference of opinion in reconstitution of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) committee, the vice-chancellor of Anna University resigned from the committee and Directorate Of Technical Education is conducting the online engineering counselling for BE, BTech courses this year.
"There are still doubts whether the DOTE can pull it off without any glitch as it lacked the technical prowess. If there is any confusion, it would affect thousands of students," professors said.
However, sources in the government said the task of conducting online counselling will be jointly undertaken by the DOTE and a private vendor.
